About
For the month of March 2005 I had the opportunity to adjudicate the 57th Annual Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. You can read more about my experience here.
In the spring of 2007, I was asked by one of my high school students at the time, Maria, to play a few piano pieces as part of a benefit she was organizing to raise money for Gaucher’s disease. Her sister Victoria was born with it. The benefit was held at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Charlottesville, and I played some classical piano in between the Life Teen Band of St. Thomas Aquinas and the christian acappella group cHOOSe from UVA. I wasn’t sure if I would fit in, but it worked out. You can read more about the event (scroll down to page 5) and learn more about Gaucher’s here.
In the spring of 2009 I had the opportunity to perform with the Charlottesville Gamelan. I played the Demung, and it was a very special experience. We played in Cabell Hall at the University of Virginia as part of the first World Music Concert.
